Stopping the upgrade pack idea might make people think twice about buying the versions that are currently in stores. I know I won't buy something I know is getting a deluxe version in mere months. Been burned too many times on video game 'goty' editions. On the other hand I would be pretty pissed if I spent the money that game costs recently on the promise of the BGG thread. Some of which came direct from the designer IIRC. I already own everything for the game, and I now that I have the rules down even a new rulebook is just a 'nice to have' addition.
I would like to see the wording of the mystery cards, event cards, and scenarios given a little polishing. I would definitely be interested in upgrading my cards because Portal's cards are a little thicker, more matte, and better cornered. Of course then the cards from Voyage of the Beagle are not going to match. My guess is that Portal will reprint that whenever the second 'Cthulhu' expansion is ready.
